This ring holds a 10x7mm lab-created D Color VVS1 pear, cut to Excellent grade, in six claws with a V-prong closed over the point. The band is plain and slender, so nothing competes with the outline of the stone. Moissanite rates 9.25 out of 10 on the Mohs hardness scale, just below diamond at 10, so it resists scratches and stays brilliant through daily wear.
A pear is a brilliant cut with one rounded end and one point, sometimes called a teardrop. It is the only classic shape that is not symmetrical. The rounded end carries most of the facets and most of the fire, while the point narrows the outline so the stone covers a long stretch of finger. It is traditionally worn with the point towards the fingertip.
