A square princess cut moissanite in D Color VVS1, cut to Excellent grade and turned on its point so the whole square faces forward. Four prongs meet it at the corners and leave the sides open. The post and back are 14K gold filled, a solid 14K gold layer bonded to a 925 sterling silver core and stamped 1/20 14K GF 925, so what sits in the piercing is gold. Sold as a pair with push backs.

How Big Will These Look on the Ear?

Bigger than the 5mm stone size suggests. The square is set on its point rather than flat, so it spans about 8.5mm from corner to corner and fills more of the lobe than the stone measurement alone implies. Each stone is 0.8ct, 1.6ct for the pair, and the pair weighs about 1.8g.

What Is 14K Gold Filled?

A layer of solid 14K gold is bonded to a core metal under heat and pressure, and the gold has to be at least one twentieth of the metal weight before it can be called gold filled at all. On these studs the core is 925 sterling silver and each is stamped 1/20 14K GF 925. The gold you see and touch is genuine 14K gold, and the warm color comes from the gold itself.

Will These Tarnish or Fade?

With normal everyday wear, no. The gold is a solid bonded layer rather than a thin surface coating, so the color holds through years of wear. Put them in after perfume, hairspray and sunscreen rather than before, since those are what dull gold fastest, and keep them away from chlorine and harsh chemicals.

Will They Pass a Diamond Tester?

Yes. Moissanite reads as diamond on the standard pen-style testers because it conducts heat in much the same way a diamond does. A jeweler's combined moissanite and diamond tester will correctly identify it as moissanite, which is exactly what you would expect. A GRA report is included with your pair.
